Transporter Permit Required

The City's liquid waste ordinance regulates the generation, transportation, and disposal of liquid waste (grease, sand/grit, chemical toilet, and septic system wastes). The transporter must apply for a permit by submitting a liquid waste transportation permit application (PDF) with the City before hauling grease interceptor waste, grit trap waste, septic tank waste, or chemical toilet waste. Generally, liquid waste hauler permits are issued with a duration of one year (Jan. 1 through Dec. 31) and require an annual inspection. A $200 permit fee is assessed per vehicle. Transporters who fail to obtain a permit may be subject to penalties of $2,000 per violation per day. Liquid waste haulers must also register with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) before permitting with the City.

Maintenance Frequency

GREASE INTERCEPTORS shall be completely evacuated at a minimum of every ninety (90) days and at all other times as necessary to maintain their effectiveness.

GRIT INTERCEPTORS shall be pumped at a minimum of once per year and at all other times as necessary to maintain their effectiveness.

SEPTIC TANKS shall be pumped as often as necessary to maintain their effectiveness.

CHEMICAL TOILETS shall be pumped as often as necessary to maintain their effectiveness.
