Welcome Local Authors!

The Traphene Hickman Public Library wants to support and partner with you! The time, effort, investment, and hard work that go into writing your own book and publishing it is a huge accomplishment and something to be proud of! There are multiple ways the Library can help you celebrate being a local author, as well as partner with you to share your book with our community.

First and foremost, the library has an adult and youth Local Authors Collection. Your book can be added to our collection and catalog, putting it at the fingertips of our patrons and our community!

Second, we offer programming that helps authors share their talents, their experiences, and their voice with our community. Local author programs are planned throughout the year that allow authors to showcase their book and/or the writing process.   These vary from open mic nights, book signings, author panel discussions, meet and greets and more. The events are by invitation; program coordinators will reach out to authors who fit well with each program objective.

Third, DAWG – Dallas Area Writers Group – partners with the library and meets at the Library on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm.

If you are a local author and would like to add your book to our collection, be a part of our database and programming, or have questions please fill out the Local Authors Interest Form.

Please note that all decisions are a the discretion of the Library and subject to change. See the Local Authors Policy here.
