Library of Things
The Library of Things is a collection of various materials or objects. These may include traditional library items such as books and DVD’s however, this collection aims to offer more nontraditional items such as instruments and scientific measurement tools. Most of these items are more suited for adults, however, they may be used by people of various ages.
The items in the Library of Things Collection include:
- 3 Stay Sharp Penworthy Kits – Garden Kit, WWII Kit, and Discover the United States Kit
- Ukelele
- 5 Birding Backpacks
- 4 Hiking backpacks
- Disc Golf Backpack
- 4 Ping Pong Sets
- 4 Chess Sets
- 3 Citizen Science Kits – Exploring Biodiversity Kit, Measuring Light in the Night Kit, and Observing Pollinators Kit
- Celestron AstroMaster70 Telescope
The Library of Things Collection can only be checked out by Traphene Hickman Library cardholders who reside in Cedar Hill (except for the chess sets and the ping pong sets which can be checked out by any cardholder). Cardholders must have a card account that is in good standing, which means their card cannot be expired, there can be no fines over $5.00, and their card cannot be blocked.
If you live in Cedar Hill and do not have a library card, visit a service desk and show your I.D. with a current address. We will give you a library card for free!
You can find the Library of Things Collection on the main level by the front desk.
Library of Things Policy Highlights:
- Only one item may be checked out per adult library cardholder at one time.
- The Library of Things Collection cannot be renewed. Each material has a different checkout loan period. Ask the front desk for more details!
- The Library of Things must be returned to the front desk. They CANNOT be placed in the book return!
