Recycling 101: 3 Basic Rules
Rule 1: Recycle bottles, cans, cups, tubs, paper and cardboard
Rule 2: Keep food and liquid out of your recycling.
Rule 3: No loose plastic bags and no bagged recyclables.

- Recycling must fit inside your yellow cart with the lid closed. It does not have to be bagged, but clear bags are preferred.
- No sorting is needed, but containers should be rinsed and free of food and liquid.
- Trash and recycling are collected once per week. Find your collection day by entering your address in the tool below or take a look at the 2026 Brochure (English) / (Spanish).
- Carts must be placed at the curb - or in the alley, if an alley collection - by 7 a.m. on your collection day. Carts may be set out before 6 p.m. or one hour before sunset the night before pickup, whichever is earlier.
Do Recycle:
- Chipboard, boxboard, cardboard, and brown paper bags
- Paper cardboard, dairy, paper cups, and juice containers
- Tin and aluminum cans, foil, and empty aerosol cans
- Recycle plastics by shape: bottles, jars, jugs, cups, and tubs.
- Glass bottles and jars
- Junk mail, office and school paper, phone books, books, catalogs, magazines and newspapers
Do Not Recycle:
- Food waste and liquids
- Plastic wraps or bags
- Foam products
- Hazardous waste
