Senior Activity Center

The Cedar Hill Senior Activity Center is open to individuals aged 55 and older. Each class is limited to 30 participants. Membership and registration are required for participation. Registration may be completed in person at either the Alan E. Sims Recreation Center or the Cedar Hill Senior Activity Center.

Membership and registration are required for all 55+ activities. Registration for each month begins the last full week of the previous month and can be done in person at the Center or online. A Senior Activity Center Membership Form must be turned in to the Senior Activity Center to complete your membership- forms are also available at the Senior Activity Center.

Wednesday  10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

$2 per bingo card.  Enjoy this game with friends. Win great prizes of nonperishable items.

Social Bridge

Wednesday 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Enjoy the game of bridge with other members. Even if you don't know how to play, we will teach you!

Special Interests

Loom Knitting - Registration Required

Wednesday 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Anyone of any skill level is invited! Loom knitting is easy, fun, and doesn’t take long to complete! Some of the hats created will be donated to various North Texas Organizations including the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, various cancer centers, and local nursing homes.

Queen Beaders - Registration Required

Thursday 10 a.m. to Noon
 Learn the art of making beautiful and fun jewelry to wear.

Quilting - Registration Required

Wednesday 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Quilting is a major part of history. This class will help you enhance your legacy as you make your mark on history.

Dance

Line Dancing - Registration Required

Monday 1:00 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Come on out and kick up your heels! This fun and energetic line dance class, set to country, pop and R&B, will teach you popular line dances. This class is great for cardio fitness, improved muscle strength and memory retention.

Chair Volleyball - Registration Required

Monday 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. 
Friday 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. 
Chair volleyball offers friendly competition, while also providing a way to have fun being active! Because players are required to remain seated, chair volleyball allows those with physical limitations to participate on a level playing field with those who may be more active.

Tai Chi for Seniors - Registration Required

Monday 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. 
Tai Chi is a meditative martial art that has been practiced for centuries and integrates body, mind, and spirit through slow graceful movements and meditative exercises.

Sit and Groove - Registration Required

Tuesday and Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
Sit and Groove is a fantastic way to listen to great music while boosting your overall well-being. It will provide a low-impact option that can be tailored to suit individual fitness levels and goals.

Zumba Gold - Registration Required

Monday 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and Thursday 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. 
Tuesday 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Friday 10:45 a.m. to 11:45a.m.
Wednesday 8:30am to 9:30am
Move to the rhythm of the music with basic Latin dance moves.

Yoga For Seniors - Registration Required

Thursday 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Yoga allows you to slow down your breathing and meditate, creating a quiet time for calm reflection that sharpens the mind and improves cognitive function.

Pilates for Older Adults - Registration Required

Friday 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Pilates is one type of low impact exercise that may benefit your bone health, strength, and mobility as you get older. It can even improve your posture, memory, and mood.
