Fire Inspections
Fire Inspections are important because they help:
- Identify and eliminate fire hazards
- Reduce the risk of fire occurrence and spread
- Ensure that fire protection systems are working properly and can activate in the event of a fire
- Keep all building occupants safe from potential fire hazards
- Make working and living environments safer
- Prevent false alarms that waste local fire department resources and can also put lives in danger
- Identify any fire hazards and issues with fire protection systems before a problem violates fire codes, or worse, cause a fire.
The Fire Prevention Division conducts the following types of inspections: Foster Home, Daycares, Community Homes, Food Trucks, Propane Installations, Fire Protection Systems, Fire Access Control, Fire Final, and Certificate of Occupancy and Commercial Business.
Commercial Fire Inspections
Commercial fire inspections are done to check potential fire risk and other safety hazards that can be found in a commercial business. The inspection examines all the equipment that makes up your building's fire protection system, including its sprinkler system, smoke alarms, building messaging system, pump systems, fire doors, and fire alarms to ensure they function properly. Inspections are required on all new construction and all existing commercial buildings to identify fire hazards and to ensure that adopted fire codes are met.
Annual Fire Protection System Testing
If you are conducting annual fire protection system tests, be sure the system is on "test mode" to avoid false alarm calls to our 911 dispatch. Fire protection companies are required by City Ordinance to submit reports for all systems tested to the Fire Marshal.
