Council Member Daniel HaydinDaniel C. Haydin, Jr. was elected to the Cedar Hill City Council, Place 2 in 2000 and served for three years as Mayor Pro Tem. As a council member, Daniel has served as a member of the Best Southwest Transportation Committee and as an advisory committee member for the Cedar Hill Manufacturing Association, Parks Master Plan Committee, Winding Hollow Public Improvement District, and Red Oak Creek Trail development.

Daniel has served as the council liaison to police and fire departments and is proud of the city council's focus on public safety and community policing. During his tenure on city council, Cedar Hill's crime rate has decreased by 16%. In addition to public safety, Daniel's priorities include improving code compliance, investing in infrastructure, pursuing balanced economic growth, strengthening neighborhood and citizen involvement, and preserving the city's green and open space.

Prior to his service on city council, Daniel served on the Zoning Board of Adjustment, Cedar Hill ISD District Advisory Council, Cedar Hill Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Best Southwest Coalition, and Country Day on the Hill Committee, among others. He has been a board member and coach for the Cedar Hill Girls Softball Association and chaired the Best Southwest Scholars and the Cedar Hill Best Southwest Scholars programs. Daniel was named Cedar Hill Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year in 2002 and is a graduate of Leadership Southwest, a program that develops regional leaders in southwest Dallas County. Daniel is a long-time member of the Cedar Hill Lion's Club and served as President in 2003.

Daniel owns two businesses in Cedar Hill. The Haydin Insurance Group, LLC is a health insurance agency specializing in life and health benefits for businesses and individuals. With his wife, Darla, he operates Split Endings, a family hair salon. Daniel holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Dallas Baptist University.

Daniel and Darla have lived in Cedar Hill for 36 years. They have two children, Amber and Heather, and two grandchildren.
