Current Drought Response Stage:  Mandatory Daytime Watering Restrictions

NO WATERING BETWEEN 10:00 am and 6:00 PM

You may water your outdoor plants from a hand held container at any time so that not a single drop is wasted or evaporated by the heat before it hits the ground. We also ask that foundations be watered with soaker hoses and vehicle washing occur on the lawn from a bucket or at a commercial carwash.

Recommended watering schedule:

The Even numbered addresses (example: 502 S. Cedar St.) may water before 10:00 a.m. and after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays only

Odd numbered addresses (example: 285 Uptown Blvd.)  may water before 10:00 a.m. and after 6:00 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays only.

For example:  If you have an even numbered address and it's Tuesday, you may water between 12:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Tuesday morning and then again between 6:00 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. Tuesday night.

If you have an odd numbered address and it's Monday, you may water between 12:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Monday morning and then again between 6:00 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. Monday night.

Additional Info:
The City of Cedar Hill recently adopted changes to its Water Conservation Ordinance (Ord. No. 2008-370). These changes were implemented as an effort to further promote water conservation practices and avoid potential periods of water shortages. Conservation becomes especially important during drought periods. Year round efforts can help avoid mandatory water restrictions but there are still a variety of events that can trigger various stages of mandatory restrictions, including but not limited to, electrical outages, water shortage, or water related emergencies within the city.

Cedar Hill acquires its water from Dallas Water Utilities (DWU).  On occasion, DWU may recommend the implementation of a water restriction stage.  Current Drought Response Stages and watering schedules will be posted here on the City of Cedar Hill website.

A new aspect of the Water Conservation Ordinance No. 2008-370 is the introduction of mandatory daytime watering restrictions during the summer months. All water customers will not be allowed to water between the hours of 10 am and 6 pm from May 1 through September 30 any day of the week. Conservation during these hot summer months is critical in order to avoid entering into more drastic Drought Repsone Stages/restrictions.

Another change to Ordinance No. 2008-370 is the new outdoor watering schedule during Drought Response Stages.  In the past, residents were required to water based on their home being located on either the West or East side of Highway 67.

Now, during Drought Response Stages, under Ordinance No. 2008-370, water customers will be required to water according to their address:

Odd numbered addresses -  Mondays and Thursdays

Even numbered addresses - Tuesdays and Fridays
