[ARCHIVED] Rafael Reyes Named Cedar Hill’s New Fire Chief: A Leader with 30+ Years of Experience

The City of Cedar Hill has named Rafael Reyes as fire chief. Chief Reyes brings more than 30 years of leadership experience in the fire service to the role. Reyes previously served as assistant chief of the Cedar Hill Fire Department and as fire training officer for the cities of Cedar Hill, Duncanville, DeSoto, and Lancaster. 

"Public safety is a top priority in Cedar Hill, and I have full confidence in Chief Reyes's leadership of our Fire Department," said City Manager Melissa Valadez. "I know he and his team will continue to deliver premier fire, EMS, and emergency management services to the community."

Prior to joining the Cedar Hill team, Reyes served as emergency management coordinator for the City of Arlington and district coordinator of Disaster District 4A for the Texas Department of Emergency Management. Reyes served as deputy chief of the El Paso Fire Department and as the emergency management coordinator for the city and county of El Paso, where he worked for 26 years.

During his tenure at the City of Cedar Hill, Reyes led the implementation of the Best Southwest cities' new regional public safety radio system. Reyes is a graduate of the National Fire Academy Executive Officer program and the Texas Fire Chiefs Academy. Reyes begins his new role on November 1.
