At the City Council meeting on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, Mayor Stephen Mason was presented with the 2025 William J. Pitstick Regional Excellence Award by the North Central Texas Council of Governments. This distinguished honor is awarded annually to a leader within the 16-county North Central Texas region who exemplifies a strong commitment to regional collaboration and forward-thinking leadership.
Named after long-time regional planning advocate William J. Pitstick, the award recognizes individuals who advance the concept of "regionalism, " or the idea that municipal and county boundaries should not hinder effective cooperation on shared challenges.
Mayor Mason was commended for his dedication to building partnerships across city and county lines and for promoting innovative policies that benefit Cedar Hil and the wider North Texas community.
This recognition reflects both Mayor Mason’s leadership and the city’s ongoing commitment to regional solutions that address transportation, infrastructure, economic development, and quality of life for communities across the region.
