Proposition B: Library Facility

Voters approved $20 million in general obligation bonds for a new public library. The project will replace the current 10,000 square foot library with an approximately 46,000 square foot facility designed to meet current and future needs, based on Texas Public Library Standards. The new library will provide for technological enhancements, flexible program space, and community meeting rooms that are not feasible in the existing structure.

Library Site Advisory Committee

The city council appointed citizens to a site selection committee to evaluate potential locations for the new library. The committee will meet in the spring of 2018 to review options based on selection criteria, such as cost of land acquisition, surrounding built environment, and operational efficiency. The committee plans to make a site recommendation to the city council by summer 2018.
