Animal Adoption Availability
Note: Tri-City Animal Shelter reserves the right to refuse an adoption.
There is no guarantee that an animal will go up for adoption. Evaluation of an animal for adoption can take one to several days depending on a variety of things.
We are required by ordinance to hold animals for a certain amount of time for an owner to claim them. We also hold animals for a variety of other reasons. Due to the nature of some of these situations, we cannot give out information as to why an animal is not available for adoption.
Adoption Process
You must be 18 years old, have a valid Texas driver’s license and fill out a pre-adoption request. State law requires that all pets adopted from an animal shelter be spayed or neutered and vaccinated against rabies. Adopted pets will be scheduled for sterilization on the next available surgery day in-house. The adopter can pick up the pet from the shelter after the surgery has been completed. To ensure the highest quality adoption experience, viewings and adoptions are not processed thirty minutes prior to closing.
