Household Hazardous Waste Disposal
HHW Collection Events
The City of Cedar Hill provides citizens safe means of disposal of hazardous materials twice a year at the Cedar Hill High School parking lot at Longhorn Drive (Cooper and Hwy. 67). Check the city website or call Code Enforcement at 972.291.5100 ext. 1094 for the date of the next event.
Hazardous household waste includes acids, aerosol cans, antifreeze, batteries (all kinds including car batteries), brake fluid, craft chemicals, degreasers, drain cleaner, fertilizer, fluorescent light bulbs, herbicides, household chemicals, motor oil, paints and stains, paint thinners, pest strips, pesticides, photo chemicals, pool chemicals, oil filters, solvents, transmission fluid, and varnish.
Residents should NOT bring ammunition, asbestos, building materials, butane cylinders, electronics, explosives, medical waste, PCBs, propane cylinders, radioactive material, smoke detectors, tires and TVs.
To responsibly dispose of cell phones, ink jet cartridges, DVD’s, laptops, MP3 players, video game consoles, digital cameras, GPS devices, digital picture frames and portable DVD players contact Teril Woodward with the CHISD Education Fund at 972.291.1581 ext. 4047.
Recycling TVs & Computers
TVs and computers can be recycled at no charge at these locations:
- Best Buy stores: All TVs 32" and smaller. $10 charge with $10 gift card in return. No charge for recycling computers. Call store to confirm.
- Goodwill Industries collection 440 E. FM 1382 (accessible from East Belt Line Rd., behind the shopping center that faces FM1382).
- Global Electric Electronic Processing: LG, Gold Star & Zenith only. 4051 N. Hwy. 121, Suite 400, Grapevine TX

Free Access to Fort Worth Environmental Collection Center
The City of Cedar Hill provides free access to the City of Fort Worth Environmental Collection Center so citizens can dispose of hazardous household waste at that facility. It is at 6400 Bridge Street just off of I-30 and Loop 820. Map You may call the facility for information or instructions at 817.871.5257.
It is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is closed on City of Fort Worth holidays. You must present proof of Cedar Hill residency with a copy of a current water bill or a valid driver's license.
What’s Accepted?
Acids, aerosol cans, antifreeze, batteries (all kinds, including car batteries), brake fluid, cooking oil, craft chemicals, degreasers, drain cleaner, fertilizer, fluorescent light bulbs, compact flourescent light bulbs (CFLs), herbicides, household chemicals, motor oil, paints & stains, paint thinners, pest strips, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, photo chemicals, pool chemicals, oil filters, solvents, transmission fluid and varnish.
The Fort Worth ECC WILL NOT accept
Ammunition, asbestos, building materials, butane cylinders, electronics, explosives, medical waste, PCBs, propane cylinders, radioactive material, smoke detectors, tires and TVs.
