Trash/Recycling Services
Trash Pickup
Weekly collection of trash, recycling and bulky items, and monthly brush service are provided for $12.76 a month. ($9.64 for seniors over 65). This amount is included on your water/sewer bill.
Residences are provided one 96-gal. recycling cart (green, with yellow lid). Residence may acquire a 96-gal. trash cart (green, with green lid) for $2 a month (added to the water bill). Call 972.291.5100 x1003 to have a trash cart delivered.
Only recyclable materials can be placed in the recycle cart (yellow lid). Trash and recycling must be placed at the alley, if available, or at the curb by 7 a.m. on collection day. Trash may not be set out before 6 p.m the evening before pickup day.
Bulky items
On your weekly trash/recycling day, you are allowed to set out one bulky item or 4 bundles of brush. A bulky item is defined as an appliance, carpet (cut into 4-ft. sections), a mattress, furniture, or fence sections (cut to 4-ft. sections with no concrete). This service does not include construction material, tires, or automobile batteries. Refrigerators, ice makers, freezers and window air conditioners must be tagged by a licensed technician as free of Freon.
Bundled Brush
Brush must be in bundles no longer that 4 feet with branches no larger than 6 inches in diameter.
Holidays
On New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, trash service will not be provided. If your collection day is Monday or Tuesday, your makeup day is Wednesday. If your day is Thursday or Friday, Saturday is your makeup day.
Household Recycling
The City of Cedar Hill encourages recycling. Recycled materials are picked up citywide on your regular trash pickup day.
Recyclable materials include: newspapers, magazines, telephone books, household paper products, junk mail, cereal boxes, cardboard, aluminum cans, steel/tin cans, glass bottles #1 and #2 plastic bottles and containers (HDPE & PET).
No sorting is necessary. Please do not include the following items in your recycled material: motor oil, cooking oil, antifreeze, paint cans, pesticide containers, packaging materials contaminated with food or grease, automotive batteries, or other hazardous materials.
Monthly Curbside Loose Brush Service
Larger quantities of brush are picked up at the curb (not in the alley) once a month according to the map. Week 1 begins the first Monday of the month.
Brush need not be bundled, but must not exceed 4-foot lengths or branches over 6 inches in diameter. Do not place brush on water meters or under power/telephone lines. Residents may place up to 10 cubic yards (size of a small car).
Brush resulting from work done by a commercial service provider will not be picked up. Tires, hazardous waste, commercial waste or construction debris will not be picked up.

Grass clippings
The City discourages residents from bagging grass clippings. Studies have shown that during the peak growing season yard trimmings account for over 25% of municipal solid waste going into landfills.
