Lifeguard Training (For participants ages 15 and older)
This course will give you all the certifications necessary to become a professional lifeguard: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED and First Aid. Certifications are good for two years.

To get a better understanding of what will be taught in the class, download the
Lifeguard Training ManualThe following skills must be performed BEFORE participants are allowed in the Lifeguard training class

  • Swim 300 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both.
  • Tread water for 2 minutes using only your legs.
  • Retrieve a 10 pound brick in 7-10 feet water without assistance and without goggles.

Important Note: If participants cannot complete the skills listed, they will not be allowed to participate in the class.

Lifeguard Training Instructor Course (For participants ages 17 and older)
Become certified to teach the American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Shallow Water Lifeguarding,Waterpark Skills, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers, Administering Emergency Oxygen and Bloodborne Pathogens classes. This course prepares instructor candidates to use course and presentation materials, conduct training sessions and evaluates the progress of candidates in a professional-level course. There is a $35 non-refundable fee due to the American Red Cross for the online precourse.

Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Training (For participants ages 16 and older)
This course will provide you with the certification necessary to instruct American Red Cross Swimming lessons!

To get a better understanding of the WSI course, download the
Water Safety Instructor Manual. You will also be provided with a manual on the first day of class.  The following skills must be performed BEFORE participants are allowed in the WSI class 

  • Demonstrate proficient front and back crawl, sidestroke, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and butterfly.

Important Note: If participants cannot complete the skills listed, they will not be allowed to participate in the class.
