The Best Southwest cities of Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Duncanville and Lancaster joined together Saturday, June 15, 2013, to honor the oldest known celebration of the ending of slavery. 

Activities include food, children's activities, entertainment and fun for the whole family.  Admission is free.

View photos and video of Cedar Hill's national award winning 2011 Juneteenth Celebration that was held at the amphitheater in Valley Ridge Park.  A concert highlighted the event with local jazz great Freddie Jones followed by the “electrofunk” group from the 80’s Midnight Star. The City of Cedar Hill received the NRPA 2012 Dorothy Mullen Arts and Humanities Award for this event.
