The Planning Department posts weekly updates of new submittals for development applications (excluding building permits), public hearings, and agenda postings for the Planning & Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustments and Capital Impact Fee Advisory Committee. The mission of the Planning Department is to facilitate the physical growth and development of the City in a sustainable manner that reflects its unique and vibrant character. To accomplish this, we manage long-range plans that reflect the needs and desires of the community, develop ordinances and policies that effectively implement these plans, and thoroughly process and review land development proposals and applications. We work closely with land developers and builders to ensure compliance with all City codes, ordinances, and policies. In doing so, we help to establish safe and attractive residential neighborhoods and businesses.

2023 NATIONAL COMMUNITY PLANNING MONTH

We celebrate the role that planning plays in creating great communities, such as Cedar Hill, each October with National Community Planning Month. This month we recognize the many valuable contributions made by planning staff as well as dedicated appointed officials and members of the community who contribute to the development of Cedar Hill.
