Scheduling
Volunteer and Student Community Service hours are scheduled in 2-4 hour increments Monday - Friday, as early as 7:30 a.m. for surgery drop off and 8 am for other assistance and run as late as 6 p.m. Once a volunteer has worked one weekday, he or she may schedule hours on Saturday or Sunday. We also have opportunities for volunteers at off-site events, such as Petsmart and other locations in the DFW area.

Requirements

Traditional volunteers are at least 18 years old and will need to complete a volunteer packet along with bringing a copy of your Driver's License or State ID to schedule orientation.

Welcome Young Volunteers!
We are now accepting volunteers as young as 10 years! If you are 10 to 15 years old, you must always have a guardian with you who is also a volunteer. We will need your volunteer application, as well as one from your guardian, and your guardian must bring their Driver's License or State ID. To volunteer alone you must be at least 16 years old and have a parent/guardian's signature on the waiver.  Both the volunteer and the guardian must show Driver's License or State ID if the volunteer is younger than 18 years of age. The parent or guardian must attend the orientation with you before the advanced teens (16-18 year old) can volunteer alone.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact our Volunteer Coordinator Sharon Fábrega, at 972.291.5335, or email us.

Court Community Service & Restitution
If you are interested in volunteering with us in order to complete hours required for court, please fill out this application, or pick one up at the shelter and submit it to begin scheduling your volunteer hours.

Transporters Needed
Can you drive? Are you retired? Do you work from home? Do you have a little bit of spare time to help an animal in need? If any of these apply... We Need You! We need volunteers who are available to transport orphaned wildlife, injured birds, or dogs and cats to various wildlife centers, or rescue facilities around the metroplex. If you are interested, please call the shelter at 972.291.5335.
