The Best Southwest cities of Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Duncanville and Lancaster join together Saturday, June 20, 2015, to honor the oldest known celebration of the ending of slavery. Activities include food, children's activities, entertainment and fun for the whole family. Admission is free.

A concert highlighted the event with local jazz great Freddie Jones followed by the “electrofunk” group from the 80’s Midnight Star. The City of Cedar Hill received the NRPA 2012 Dorothy Mullen Arts and Humanities Award for this event.
